Winton Wetlands


Winton Wetlands Reserve is unique in so many ways. It's spectacular. It's enriching. It's engaging. Above all, it's fun.

The largest wetlands restoration project in the southern hemisphere, the Winton Wetlands brings people, groups and communities together to renew themselves, the landscape and their passion for the great outdoors.

Located in north east Victoria, the 8,750Ha site features 32 wetlands, over 4,900Ha of red gum and box grassy woodland and is home to a huge variety of flora and fauna, including over 180 species of birds.

Visitors to Winton Wetlands can connect with the site in any number of ways. Whether it be a memorable walk, an adventurous bike ride or a relaxing visit to the Mokoan Hub and Caf?.

With thousands of years of Indigenous cultural heritage, the site provides a wonderful insight into the ways of the Yorta Yorta people and an understanding of why the site continues to be so important to them.

Day's Lookout


If you are heading south to Benalla, along the Hume Highway, stop at the Mokoan rest stop and stretch your legs, you will not be disappointed. Take the short walking track to the top of Day's Lookout.

The lookout will give you fantastic views overseeing the Winton Wetlands. The best time is sunset, however the views are worth it anytime of day.

Trails, Tastings and Tales Food and Wine Festival


Over the three days of the Queen's birthday long weekend in the Glenrowan Wine Region, explore, discover and enjoy regional wines, live music and rustic, warming food during the Trails, Tastings and Tales Food and Wine Festival.

There will be wine appreciation and educational sessions with the winemakers to enhance your wine knowledge, muscat blending workshops and art exhibitions by renowned local artists. Enjoy a hand crafted beer from the region's new micro brewery. A variety of weekend entertainment and attractions will be provided for the whole family to relax and enjoy themselves at each winery.

The festival provides the perfect opportunity to taste the wines of the region, take in the beauty of the landscape on the wine trail and indulge in savoury and sweet dishes over the three days of the festival.

The diversity of the Glenrowan Wine Region will be enhanced by the outing of new release wines to be added to the array of the region's wine bounty.

The Trails, Tastings and Tales festival is family friendly and due to the size of the wineries, operates a no coaches policy this weekend. Mini buses are welcome with pre booking recommended. Strictly no BYO alcohol.

Lunette Walk - November


In response to the incredible feedback from the recent guided Lunette Walk Tours, have added subsequent tours through the ancient crescent shaped sand dune. (two kilometre return walk)

The Lunette Walk has been designed to enable visitors to enjoy the stunning landscape at night. Together the sky, land and the water create the ultimate combination for an unforgettable experience.

Meet at the Mokoan Hub and Cafe for a light supper and then depart by bus to the Lunette Walk.

Once at the Lunette you will be expertly guided through the ancient crescent shaped sand dune to discover the evocative art installations, vast sweeping views and uninterrupted night sky. The one kilometre trail and stations are lit by various forms of solar lighting and larger scaled light activations.

Expert guides will provide information about the dramatically illuminated key points of interest along the trail including; Hilda Bain, Long Neck Turtle, Bug Obvservatory, Ring Tree , Star Lounge, Eagles Nest, Lunette Lookout.
