Coal Creek Community Park and Museum


Coal Creek Community Park and Museum is a living history museum, recreating the time of settlement and the story of the coal miners from South Gippsland.

Upgrade your visit with a multimedia interpretative self-guided tour. Take a journey through time with the story of James Hardwick, Coal Creek's most successful mine manager, or help the miners light up Melbourne. Learn local history by searching for the hidden treasures around the village.

Come along and ride the bush tramway, buy some old fashioned lollies from the general store and feed the ducks in the lake. While you're here, drop in and have a look at the Community Gallery and be sure to talk to the volunteers for their knowledge of local history. Come on one of the scary Ghost Tours and see the village at night. Think of Coal Creek for your wedding or for a special event with the family.

Sale Common Wetlands Walk


Distance: 15 kilometres return, can be broken into sections
Start and finish: Multiple start points including the Port of Sale, Lake Guthridge and South Gippsland Highway near Cox's Bridge.

Grade: Level 1 - 2. Level 1 - No experience required. Flat even surface with no steps or steep sections. Suitable for wheelchair users with someone to assist them.
Level 2 - No experience required. The track is hardened gravel or compacted surface and may have a gentle hill section or sections and some steps.

The internationally listed Sale Common wetlands offers freshwater marshes and red gum woodlands with an enormous variety of birdlife that you can see from the boardwalk. The boardwalk starts at the edge of the swamp, continues past deeper water, islands and through a small reed bed. At the eastern end of the boardwalk, relax and watch the pelicans, swans and ducks from the bird hide.

Mount Worth State Park


Mount Worth State Park protects a remnant of the forests that once covered the western Strzelecki Ranges. Tall wet forests of Mountain Ash, Mountain Grey Gum and Blackwood grow on the hills and slopes and tree fers flourish in sheltered gullies.

Walking, picnicking and sightseeing are the most popular activities. The Giant's Circuit walk follows an old tramline route along Lorkin Creek to the Standing Giant - a huge Mountain Ash seven metres in circumference and probably more than 300 years old. Two lookouts on McDonald's Track give panoramic views over the Latrobe River valley, the Great Dividing Range and Westernport Bay.

Coal Creek Farmers' Market


Coal Creek Farmers' Market is held on the second Saturday each month in the Coal Creek Community Park and Museum car park, Korumburra, South Gippsland.

A great mix of seasonal produce is available, and it changes every month depending what's growing in Victoria. Come along and support the growers.

Every month you will find local vegies, fruit, herbs, nuts, free range eggs, locally caught fish, olives and olive oil, wine, honey, sourdough breads, preserves, chutneys, jams, cheese (including goats and sheep) roses, plants, plus meat and smallgoods.

Halloween at Coal Creek


Halloween at Coal Creek is a great festival for all the family.

Trick or treat available for kids 16 years and under, bring your own bag to collect your goodies. The collection is from 5.30pm to 8pm.

There will also be ghost train rides, as well as many other activities including roving performers, snake busters, apple bobbing, monster bash disco and blazing bonfire from 8pm.

There is also a best dressed competition (under eight, under 16 and open).

Come down to Coal Creek for a fun filled Halloween.

Drouin Lions Club Garden and Home Expo


Drouin Lions Garden and Home Expo at Lardner Park will feature over 150 beautiful displays and sales, 40 specialist and general nurseries, exhibitors, and demonstrations throughout the day.

This year's expert is Tino Carnevale. Born and bred in Tasmania, Tino`s lifelong interest in plants and gardening stems from him growing up on his family`s small vineyard in Southern Tasmania. As well as being a presenter on Gardening Australia, Tino writes for newspapers, magazines and gardening websites and is frequently heard on ABC radio giving gardening advice. He will be speaking on stage both Saturday and Sunday.

The Garden and Home Expo is held in three huge pavilions and surrounds. There is also children`s activities, extensive catering, entertainment, convenient parking and EFTPOS available once you are through the gate.

Fantastic floral displays, including landscaping, permaculture, gardening tools and machinery, tanks and water saving devices, shade and hot houses, spas and pools, statues and garden features, interior and exterior furniture, home finance and building, tradespeople and building products will all feature at the Expo, plus lots more.

All proceeds donated by the Drouin Lions Club go back to Community.

Leongatha Art and Photography Show


The 41st annual Arts Prom Country, Leongatha Art and Photography Show is organized by Leongatha Rotary.

It is one of the major events in the region and has over 450 entries throughout Victoria and interstate. Included in the show are youth entries and all abilities.

Artists compete for major awards that are highly regarded in the art world.

The same weekend the annual Daffodil Festival is being held at the Memorial Hall, Michael Place, Leongatha. A special feature is a street market and entertainment along with a vehicle display on Saturday 2nd Sept.
