Old Gippstown


Step back in time to the 18502 s and enjoy a visit to Old Gippstown, Gippsland's Heritage Park in Moe. This complete historical township filled with authentic buildings and d?cor makes an ideal venue for weddings and functions.

Old Gippstown is also renowned for its Coach house which contains one of Victoria's best collections of horse drawn vehicles.

The beautiful garden settings are perfect for picnics and barbecues. You can also see a large variety of agricultural and industrial machinery ranging from horse drawn, steam-driven or manually operated, and the blacksmiths forge, in which many were manufactured.

The General Store and The Water Wheel garden dressmaking shop contain displays of original implements used around the home in the 1850s. Tynong Theatre, at which a screening of old black and white movies, newsreel and shorts can be arranged for visitors. Prior arrangements must be made.

Visit the local police station and spend a short stretch in the local jail.

Drop past the local doctor's quarters - do not forget to look out for the ghost.

Tyers Park


Set in the foothills to the north of the Latrobe Valley, Tyers Park encompasses the fine scenery of the Tyers Gorge where the Tyers River winds between steep forested slopes. The park has an abundance of diverse wildflowers and the birdlife, making it a favourite destination for naturalists. Outcrops of limestone and conglomerate are of geological interest. The limestone contains both plant and animal fossils.

Popular activities at Tyers Park include scenic drives, bushwalks, picnicking, swimming, fishing and nature study.

Spring is the main wildflower season and a good time to visit, although the park has plenty to offer throughout the year.

Nickelby at Darnum


Nickelby at Darnum is the home of Nickelby Alpacas, Nickelby Designs and Nickelby Olives; where you can take the opportunity to come and see this working alpaca stud.

Owned by Angela Betheras who is also the RIRDC 2011 Victorian Rural Woman of the Year, Nickelby at Darnum operates a farm gate selling beautiful alpaca garments made from fine Australian fleece as well as stylish garments from Peru. Nickelby at Darnum have throw rugs, jumpers, coats, scarves, hats and doonas, to name a few, all made from this beautiful fibre.

Whilst stocking an extensive range of commercial garments, Nickelby Designs is Angela's own range and this is all made from Australian Alpaca, mostly from her own animals. They also stock alpaca yarn including hand dyed Australian alpaca yarn.

Nickelby At Darnum is also a licenced venue so you can book in for a ploughman's lunch with a glass of wine and sit back and enjoy the views and the lovely alpacas or enjoy coffee and cake with our own unique secret blended coffee that you can't find anywhere else.

As one of the largest alpaca on farm shops in Australia, you are certain to find exactly what you are looking for.

2016 National Championships Inline Hockey Australia


The cream of the crop in Australian inline hockey is heading to Stadium 34 in Moe. The 2016 ILHA National Championships will be played from September 24 to October 1. Teams from all over Australia will computer ion junior, senior and women competitions to determine the best overall State in the country.

The eight day tournament will kick off on Saturday from 7.00 am and the week following will see games played from 7.00 am - 11.00 pm on all days, with the Grand Finals to take place on Saturday, October 1st. The most obstacle dense course in Victoria.

Leap, weave, duck and slide. Clamber, stagger, wade and run through this epic new five kilometre course, the most obstacle dense course in Victoria.

With fun and teamwork at the heart of this run, long running distances have been replaced with awesome challenging obstacles. The course is so densely packed that you will move quickly from one obstacle to the next.

Summit Survivor is for adventurous 12 to 60 year olds. 87 percent of participants said they found it the ideal difficulty. You can push yourself and make the course tough, or slow it down to suit your style. There is also a kids course for under 12 year olds.

All participants finish the day with a Summit Survivor Race Medal, an awesome sense of achievement and life long memories of a top day out.
