Rental Period:
- Rates are calculated on 24 hour
periods (1 day).
- For additional hours, an extra day
will be charged and is payable direct to
Avis by the renter.

Locations:
All Downtown locations excluding
Northern Territory and North West
Western Australia.

Kilometre Allowance:
Metropolitan and Country Locations: All
Vehicles - Rates include unlimited
kilometres.
Remote Locations: All Vehicles - Rates
include 100kms per day, excess kilometre
charges at 27.5c per kilometre.

Vehicles and Fleet Availability:
- Vehicle types given are for
descriptive purposes only and may vary
by location.
- Reservations are confirmed by vehicle
group and not by specific make/model. 
- Not all Vehicle Groups are available
at all locations.

Age Requirements:
- Group A, B, C, D and Group S vehicles
- Minimum 21 years of age.
- Group E, P, F, V, K, W, H vehicles -
Minimum 25 years of age.
- A surcharge applies for renters aged
between 21-24 years of AUD27.50 per day.
This is to be paid directly to Avis at
the time of rental.
- No maximum age applies. 

Drivers Licence Requirements:
- Avis Australia will rent to drivers
that present a current drivers licence
and have held that licence for 12
months.
- Avis Australia will not rent to any
person on a Provisional or Probationary
drivers licence.
- If a foreign licence is in a language
other than English, it must be
accompanies by an International Drivers
Permit (containing an English
translation).

Additional Driver Policy:
- An additional driver fee of AUD5.00 +
GST per day, per additional driver
applies, to a maximum charge of AUD25.00
+ GST (5 day maximum charge).
- Additional driver fee does not apply
to the spouse of the lead driver. This
is someone of any gender that the driver
is married to or in a relationship with.
- It is essential that proof of a valid
driver's licence is provided and the
additional driver signs the rental
agreement.

Rates: 
Vehicle Registration Fee (VRF): Included
in rate. Applicable to all rentals.
Administration Fee: Included in rate.
Applicable to all rentals. Also applies
to any additional items not included in
the rate which are payable directly to
Avis at the time of rental. 
Goods & Services Tax (GST): Included in
rate. Also applies to additional items
not included in rate which are payable
directly to Avis at the time of rental. 
Premium Location Surcharge (PLS) /
Concession Recovery Fee (CRF): Included
in rate. Fee may also apply to any
additional items which are payable
directly to Avis at time of rental. The
fee varies between locations and may be
calculated at up to 30%.
Loss Damage Waiver: Included in rate.
Refer to Insurance section for further
information. 

Insurance Cover and Excess Levels:
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW):
- Loss Damage Waiver is the insurance
coverage (included in the rates)
provided on the rental vehicle and Third
Party Property which is subject to the
excess. Loss Damage Waiver is also
subject to terms and conditions detailed
on the rental agreement.

Standard Accident Excess- when an Avis
vehicle is involved in an accident the
excess is applicable providing the
vehicle is used in accordance with the
Terms and Conditions of the rental
agreement and the laws of the state.
Failure to adhere to the Terms and
Conditions and laws of the state will
result in the renter being responsible
for all damage and costs associated with
the vehicle.

Excess Reduction Insurance can be
purchased at selected Avis locations for
all car groups as follows:

All Vehicle Groups, excluding Groups H
and W.
Excess - AUD4,400.00.
Excess Reduction (ER) - AUD27.50 per day
reduces excess to AUD605.00, or 
Excess Reduction (ER) - AUD33.00 per day
reduces excess to zero ($0).

Group H and W.
Excess	- AUD5,500.00.
Excess Reduction (ER) - AUD33.00 per day
reduces excess to AUD1,100.00, or
Excess Reduction (ER) - AUD38.50 per day
reduces excess to zero ($0).

Inclusive Rates include the Excess
Reduction - Nil excess applies. 

Note: The renter must always pay to Avis
the following costs and fees:

The cost of repairing any:
- Overhead Damage - damage to the
Vehicle or property of any third party
caused by the Vehicle coming into
contact with anything above the top of
the door seal and the top of the front
and back windscreens.
- Underbody Damage - damage to the
Vehicle caused by the Vehicle coming
into contact with anything below the
bottom of the door seal and the bottom
of the front and rear bumper bars.
- Water damage to the Vehicle.
- Damage to the Vehicle or to the
property of any third party caused by a
breach of the Rental Agreement.
- Damage to a tyre or an Accessory not
attributable to normal wear and tear.

The cost of any professional cleaning or
odour extraction incurred by Avis
because the driver or another person has
been smoking in the Vehicle during the
Rental Period and/or a reasonable
administrative fee reflecting the cost
of making arrangements for professional
cleaning or smoke extraction.

One-Way Rental Policy: 
- One-Way Rentals of vehicle Groups A, K
& W are on request.  
- The One-Way Rental fees listed are
payable in addition to the rental
charges and are inclusive of GST. One
way rental fees are payable direct to
Avis at the time of rental.
- Continuous rentals of a minimum rental
duration of 72 hours (3 days x 24 hours)
do not incur a One-Way Rental fee unless
noted below.  

NSW, ACT, VIC, QLD, SA:
One way rental fees are determined
below, when renting between these States
and Territories: 
Fees apply to rentals less than 72 hours
(3 days x 24 hours) unless noted as an
exception.

Western Australia
- A minimum continuous rental duration
of 5 days (5 x 24 hours) applies for one
way rentals within Western Australia.
One way rental fees are determined as

- Vehicles rented for 7 days (7 x 24
hours) or more from Perth to
Exmouth/Learmonth within the period 01

- Vehicles rented for 7 days (7 x 24
hours) or more from Exmouth/Learmonth to
Perth within the period 01 April 2019 -
31 October 2019 will incur a one way fee
of $150.
- Refer to table below for vehicles
rented between Perth and
Exmouth/Learmonth (and vice versa)
outside of this period / rental
duration.

One Way Rentals into/out of Northern
Territory and Western Australia
- A minimum rental duration of 7 days (7
x 24 hours) applies and a non-waivable
one way fee of AUD1,100.00 is applicable
unless noted as an exception.
- One Way rentals are only permissible
on the following vehicles  Group C, D,
E, K, F and W.  
- Rentals commencing from specified
airport and downtown locations in QLD,
NSW, ACT, VIC and SA may be driven one
way into the Northern Territory and
Western Australia or vice versa - see
below list of depots. 
- One way rentals are also permissible
from Perth, Karratha, Port Hedland,
Broome and Kununurra to and from Darwin,
Alice Springs and Ayers Rock.

Restricted Driving Roads/Areas:
- The below detailed driving
restrictions apply to all rentals.
- Should the Avis vehicle be driven over
the restricted roads/areas detailed
below, or on the Rental Agreement, Avis
insurance will be void. 
- Vehicle hire is subject to
satisfactory road and weather conditions
at all times.

General:
- The vehicle must only be used on roads
that are properly formed and constructed
as sealed, metalled or gravel roads
(unless the vehicle is a 4WD vehicle). 
- All vehicles, including Group K and W,
cannot be driven on beaches or through
streams, dams, rivers or floodwaters.
- Vehicles rented from Mainland
Australia may not leave the Mainland and
be taken to Tasmania or any other
island.
- A number of roads in Northern
Territory and Western Australia are
access roads to Aboriginal communities
where it is not permissible to drive
without a permit.

Queensland:
- Vehicles may not be driven beyond
Chillagoe in a westerly direction.
- Vehicles may not be driven beyond
Normanton in a southerly direction.
- All vehicles may be driven on the main
road to Cooktown. If driven off main
road, or north of Cooktown insurances
may be void.
- Group W only may be driven on the
coast road from Cape Tribulation to
Cooktown. If driven north of Cooktown
insurances may be void.
- Vehicles may not be drive on the
Birdsville Track.
- Vehicles may not be taken to Fraser
Island.
- Vehicles can be taken on Magnetic
Island. 

Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales and
ACT:
- Vehicles may not be driven above the
snow line in Tasmania, New South Wales
and Victoria - being Jindabyne in New
South Wales and Bright in Victoria, from
the beginning of June until the end of
September.
- Avis vehicles rented in Tasmania may
not be taken to the Mainland and vice
versa.
- Bruny Island: 
Clients travelling to Bruny Island or
considering travelling to Bruny Island
should mention this to the Avis staff
member at the rental counter. Avis does
allow travel to Bruny Island (including
travel on the Bruny Island Ferry), but
does require the renter to acknowledge
the change to our terms and conditions
regarding this at time of rental. Please
note that due to the isolated nature of
Bruny Island and its access limitations,
breakdowns and accidents can be
difficult to attend to and can take up
to 24 hours for an agent to attend a
call out on Bruny Island. Under no
circumstances will Avis cover any
additional expenses the renter may incur
due to such a delay including but not
limited to costs associated with hotel
and airlines arrangements. Please Note:
Excess Reduction does not cover and the
renter will always be liable for all
Overhead Damage, Underbody Damage and
Water Damage.

Western Australia:
- Rentals commencing in Western
Australia south of Exmouth may not be
driven north of Exmouth unless a one way
rental has been confirmed as per the One
Way Rental Policy.
- PFAR only may be driven on Tunnel
Creek Road, Windjana Gorge Road, Cape
Leveque Road and Spring Creek Track to
the Bungle Bungles. 
- It is not recommended to travel on any
road other than main highways 1 and 96
north of Geraldton.
- Mine access roads in the Pilbara are
private road and cannot be driven on.

- All Learmonth Airport (LEA) rentals
will incur a AUD77.00 surcharge for
collection and drop off of vehicles.
This charge is subject to change without
prior notification. 

Valid for 01APR18-31MAR19:
- When rented from Broome, Kununurra or
Darwin, PFAR (Group W) may be driven on
the Gibb River Road during the period
15MAY-31OCT, subject to satisfactory
road and weather conditions. If taken on
the road outside of this period,
inusurances may be void. Renters using
this road are advised that extreme care
and slow speeds are essential to save
damage being caused to the vehicle.
Damage caused to the vehicle due to
excessive speed will void the insurance
cover. Vehicles cannot be taken north
off the Gibb River Road on to the
Kalumburu Road to Mitchell Plateau. 

Valid for 01APR19-31MAR20:
- When rented from Perth, Broome,
Kununurra or Darwin, PFAR (Group W) may
be driven on the Gibb River Road during
the period 15MAY-31OCT, subject to
satisfactory road and weather
conditions. If taken on the road outside
of this period, inusurances may be void.
Renters using this road are advised that
extreme care and slow speeds are
essential to save damage being caused to
the vehicle. Damage caused to the
vehicle due to excessive speed will void
the insurance cover. Vehicles cannot be
taken north off the Gibb River Road on
to the Kalumburu Road to Mitchell
Plateau. 

South Australia:
- Vehicles may not be driven on the
Oodnadatta track.
- Vehicles rented from the Mainland may
not leave the Mainland or be taken to
any island. 
EXCEPTION: Travel to Kangaroo Island is
allowed for vehicles collected from
Sydney Airport, Melbourne Airport,
Adelaide Airport, Kings Cross-Sydney
City, Franklin St-Melbourne City, or
Adelaide City only. Night driving is not
permitted on Kangaroo Island. If an
accident occurs between dusk and dawn
the renter will be responsible for all
damage irrespective of circumstances.

the rental is cancelled prior to
commencement.
