Pye Cottage Museum


Take a step back in time, view a variety of documents and artifacts and enjoy reliving the historic pioneering days. Pye Cottage Museum is probably one of the last of its kind in the district, and the last of its design, which had been used for generations past by the early settlers of the Highland .

Pye Cottage Museum is an original slab hut donated to the Gunning Historical Society by the Pye family. Located in the main street of Gunning, the house is in its original state from circa 1886 to 1887. country.

Wakefield Park Motor Racing Circuit


Wakefield Park Raceway is a 2.2 kilometre racing circuit, recognised as one of the most popular motor racing venues in NSW.

For the ultimate adrenaline filled day, visit Wakefield Park - whether to watch, participate, or drive yourself.

The track is open to the public, providing three circuits licensed by the NSW Department of Sport and Recreation, Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS), and Motorcycling NSW Inc. and Australian Karting Association Inc.

Wakefield Park caters to the general public, corporate hire, as well as the racing fraternity. In addition to the race meetings and practice days, group events are provided for V8 Racing cars and professionally instructed and organised drive day events.

The circuit is located two hour's drive from Sydney, under an hour from Canberra, and is positioned 10 kilometres south of Goulburn on 130 acres of cleared land.

Big Merino


The 'World's Biggest Merino' is a three storey structure of concrete and steel measuring 15.2 metres high and 18 metres long. This monument was built in 1985 as a celebration to Goulburn and surrounding district's fine wool industry is an impressive life-like model of 'Rambo', a stud ram from a the local property 'Bullamallita'.

This unique 'big' attraction is located just off Goulburn's southern exit and stands proud as a symbol of Goulburn - 'the Fine Wool Capital of the World'. The Big Merino houses an exhibition on the 200 year history of wool in Australia.

The gift shop displays an extensive range of light weight wool garments ideal for layering and sporting activities as well as a great selection of pure merino and possum merino knitwear, knitting yarn and Australian made sheepskins, and is now considered to have one of the best selection of wool products in Australia.

Collector Village Pumpkin Festival


The Collector Village Pumpkin Festival is an annual event held on the first Sunday in May each year.

First held in the autumn of 2003, it has grown to be one of the largest community events in the region. It is a colourful festival that celebrates rural life and the harvest season using a unique pumpkin theme.

Community based, ran by volunteers with profits returned to local community. Features over 120 stall holders and many activities with the flavour of a traditional country fair full of simple fun, lots of colour and imagination. Showcases local produce and the arts/craft community.

Gunning Patchwork Weekend


Gunning Patchwork Weekend (GPW) is held each year on the last weekend in June. Timed to break the monotony of the winter, the weekend is also a great opportunity to have a break from the rat race. A fully self-funding weekend, the GPW is coordinated by four volunteers, Margaret, Marie, Kath and Peta. The GPW brings visitors to town and provides some welcome trade for local businesses and the Lions Club Markets.

Aimed at beginners and experts alike, the weekend focuses on completion of your project, good food, fun and friendships as well as high quality tutorials. Join them for an opportunity to get away from it all and create a masterpiece.

Gunning Show 2018


This is a fun country show that has plenty to offer families, with free kids events and lots to see and do!

Come along to see the horses, dogs, shearing, alpaca and cattle competitions. This year they are showcasing free skateboard demonstrations and lessons as well as chainsaw demonstrations and reptile shows.

For the kids, they have free facepainting and candle making, not to mention the patting paddock and the smoke house maze.

They are really proud of everything the region has to offer, which is showcased in the pavilion, filled with local produce, wool, arts and crafts and photography.

Only 45 minutes from Canberra, the Gunning Show is not like some of the bigger events, they offer a great day out with friendly and fun locals. Go and visit them, you won't be disappointed!
