Turon Technology Museum

Winner of a National Trust Heritage Award, The Turon Technology Museum offers something for everyone - from the steam engine enthusiast to children discovering the wider world of technology.

Situated in a secluded area off the Ilford-Sofala Road and just midway between the towns is the Turon Technology Museum, also known as the Museum of Power, which displays some of the fascinating engines and engineering behind the Industrial Revolution.

You will discover that the truth about this most important revolution is very different to your school book history.

The museum focuses on the power technology from 1850 to 1950, including steam turbines, a marine diesel engine and compressors. Many of the engines are in working order and those in the steam display are operational.

Kiosk, toilets, picnic area, parking are available.

Group bookings are essential and catering is available by arrangement.

Sofala Bookshop (Slado's Recycled Books)

Slado's Recycled Books has been established since the mid 1990s and until October 2016 was located on George Street, Bathurst.

They are now located on Denison Street, Sofala - an historic gold mining village situated on the Bathurst - Mudgee road.

There are over 10,000 books across most genres including Australiana, modern fiction, crime, war, self help, art, craft, gardening, cooking, railways, fishing, nature, children's, poetry and the list goes on.

You will find first editions and rare books, plus there is a search system where staff will seek out that elusive book that you have been looking for to finish off a collection - they have an additional 20 000+ books off site.

Today, Slado's Recycled Books is more commonly known as Sofala Bookshop.

Artisans Park day vistors

Artisans Park is one of Australia's most unique farms set high above Bathurst with breathtaking views described by visitors as something like out of a movie. Artisans Park is often used for film, television, photo shoots, weddings and more.

Artisans Park is accessible in all weather including snow season carpark with Coach parking and bus stop.

Base Camp located just inside Artisans Park main gates has a small shop, toilets and several barbecue picnic areas, it is also part of the 1875 Trig Station Hut complex surrounded by many unique items and vintage cars 1939 Buick, 1949 Humber Super Snipe.

From Base Camp visitors walk to Mid Station a very easy 10 minute walk where many unique items and buildings are on display including The Bush Beast roller coaster and Beastie roller coaster Wonderland Sydney, WW2 Sea Fury propeller, Electric street lighting 1920 Wolseley and more.

Mid Station is home to a 1949 London Double Decker bus and playground area lookout and picnic areas, Park Summit is a five minute walk from mid station and gives visitors a 360 degrees views for 100's of kilometres making amazing photos.

Park House tours run daily 10.30am, 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm.

Sofala and District Agriculture and Horticulture Show

The Sofala district looks forward to showcasing some of the district's best arts and crafts, as well as flowers, birds, poultry and, of course, their vegetables at the Sofala and District Agriculture and Horticulture Show. Come along for the food and entertainment which will include puppet shows, a snake display, helicopter rides and lots more.
