The Art of Choral Harmony

The Art of Choral Harmony: Sacred and profane, ancient and modern, imported and home grown. Join Sydney Chamber Choir on a musical journey into the heart of beauty.

The human voice is the most expressive of all instruments, and this concert features some of the great masters of choral writing: HIldegard of Bingen's ecstatic melodies, written for the nuns of her 12th-century abbey; exquisitely passionate madrigals by Monteverdi and Gesualdo; the lush harmonies of Brahms and the delicacy of Debussy; and three thrilling Australian choruses for a mighty finale.

Presented in association with Musica Viva Australia.

Mission Songs Project

Mission Songs Project is an initiative to revive contemporary Australian Indigenous songs from 1900 to 1999, focusing on the Christian missions, state run settlements and native camps where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were relocated.

Searching for the secular songs that were sung after church, Mission Songs Project looks to explore the day to day life of the mission days, from cultural identity to love and loss. These unique songs consist of almost forgotten stories that shed light into the history of Indigenous elders, families and communities.

Presented in association with Musica Viva Australia.
