Dog on the Tucker Box Recreational Trail


Come and experience the newly formed four kilometre Dog on the Tucker Box Walking/Cycling/Horse riding trail connecting the township of Gundagai to the Dog on the Tucker Box.

Use the quiet roads to access the trail from the main street (an extra three kilometres), or park your car at the track head at the end of Spring Flat Road. This is a beautiful meandering trail going through peaceful countryside. A great family activity.

Train Stop Antiques


Come enjoy a hearty breakfast/lunch at the Train Stop Antique Cafe over the road from the Dog on the Tuckerbox. Gundagai Heritage Railway


Gundagai railway station is a New South Wales State Heritage-listed timber station dating from 1886. The station closed in 1984 and since 1992 has been restored into a tourist attraction which sees local and international tourists come to visit.

Many historical displays and photos are in the museum and in the yard rollingstock can be seen. The museum is managed by a volunteer team which is keen to showcase the NSW rail history. Each year Open Day events are held to attract people and raise further awareness.

Volunteers work on restoring the station and yard with plans to rebuild the line and run tourist trains in the future.

The station is five minutes off the Hume Highway - come and spend 30 minutes or so at the station and learn some local history. Donations are welcomed to keep the project running as is any support from interested volunteers or members.

Historic Bridges of Gundagai


The landscape at Gundagai is dominated by four bridges spanning the Murrumbidgee flats: the historic Prince Alfred Bridge, the timber Railway Bridge, and now the dual Sheahan bridges of the Hume Highway.

The timber viaducts are wonderful examples of early engineering solutions to crossing a major flood plain. Their national significance is recognised with listing by the National Trust. They are a spectacular latticework of wooden trusses, spanning the flood plains and river.

Follow the River Walk from Yarri Park - they are well worth a look. Follow the signs or pick up a brochure from the Visitor Centre.

Battle on the Bidgee Stockmans Challenge


Come and experience the Battle on the Bidgee. It is fast becoming one of the leading Stockman's Challenges in Australia. This very popular event showcases great feats and skills through horsemanship, whilst taking in the picturesque surroundings of the Gundagai Showgrounds and Common area that is nestled between the mighty Murrumbidgee River and Morley's Creek. Entertainment, bar, and canteen will be available all weekend.

Challenge events will include Pack saddle, Horse shoeing, Whip crack, Stock handling, Bareback obstacle and Cross country.

The Finals will be held on Sunday which includes Brumby Catch and Poly Buck Jump.

Plus added weekend events include: Quick Shoe, Quick Shear, Kids Gymkhana, Bush Gymkhana, Andrew Sheridan Horse Starting Clinic, Poly Buckjump, and Steer ride.

All profits from the Battle on the Bidgee will be donated to the local community and Snowy Hydro.

ARTHC Tractor Pull and Swap Meet


The Tractor Pull and Swap Meet is normally on the last Sunday in February just after the Gundagai Show, their show is at the Gundagai Showgrounds in Gundagai.

They have Vintage Tractor Pulls in many classes operating all day, this also include a Ladies Tractor Pull and a 4x4 Ute Pull.

Also on this day too there is
Truck Show and Shine, Market Stalls, Swap Meet, Collectables, Jumping Castle for the Kids, Ride On Mower Races, Heavy Horses Display, Vintage Machinery Display
And Much More.

All car and Truck clubs are welcome to display.

The Gundagai Cup - Ladies Day


Another equine event on the Gundagai calendar, the Gundagai Cup is one not to be missed.

All ladies are invited to enjoy a great day out with free admission. The ladies can enjoy lunch on the lawn from 12 noon to 2pm. This will include a light two-course lunch, champagne and entertainment.

Run over 1800 metres, the Gundagai Cup is a test of speed and endurance and always attracts a quality field from afar. With strong bookmaker's rings on local, away and interstate events, you can enjoy a flutter or two. The Gundagai Racecourse also has excellent catering and bar facilities to keep you nicely fed and refreshed.

The beautiful Gundagai Racecourse is just the place to be for a great day out.

Snake Gully Cup


The Snake Gully Cup is one of the most popular race meetings in country NSW. It will be held over two days and has emerged as the premier race of the spring in the southern districts of NSW. It is a great time to come and visit and enjoy the good country hospitality that Gundagai has to offer.

The popularity, prize money and prestige of the Snake Gully Cup Carnival has grown dramatically in recent years, with thousands of racegoers converging each November on the picturesque Gundagai Racecourse.

You can purchase a ticket and be part of the Snake Gully Cup Marquee or host a Private Marquee with various food and beverage packages available. Great prize money for Fashions on the Field with full bar and canteen facilities available all weekend. There will be Courtesy buses running all day to and from the Racecourse.
