Tadeusz Kosciuszko Monument


Located at the northern entrance to Cooma, the Tadeusz Kosciuszko Monument was a bicentennial gift from the Federal Council of Polish Associations in Australia to the town. The monument commemorates the discovery and naming of Mount Kosciuszko, and the contribution of Polish settlers to the Snowy Mountains Scheme. There is an information turnout, coach and car parking available.

Snowy Mountains Hydro Discovery Centre


The Snowy Mountains Hydro-Electric Scheme is one of the engineering wonders of the modern world. With seven power stations - two of which are underground, 16 major dams, and over 140 kilometres of trans-mountain tunnels, it is a symbol of Australian endeavour at its best.

The Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre is a state of the art visitor facility showcasing the amazing story of the Snowy Mountains Scheme, from the early construction days to the role the Scheme plays today in the development of Australia.

The centre houses a comprehensive exhibition hall that includes a photographic collection, models, exhibits, and interactive displays. The centre also has two theatres, souvenirs, maps, and a cafe.

Cooma Little Theatre


Cooma Little Theatre (CLT) was founded in 1955 and has been active in the Monaro region as a community group since then.

Each year Cooma Little Theatre mounts a least four of its own high quality productions. These include a range of performance genres - comedy, drama, variety show and even pantomime.

In addition, Cooma Little Theatre act as a host venue for performances by touring professional companies such as the 'Railway Street Theatre and professional groups like the a capella ensemble 'the Idea of North'. This delivery of high quality art and culture has continued in an unbroken stream since operations began in 1955.

Cooma Little Theatre is a non-profit community theatre which provides arts and culture (live drama, comedy, dance, musicals and dinner theatre), It is the only live theatre in the region and also hosts touring productions. Its self-sustained survival for over 60 continuous years proves wide community support from both the larger towns and the small communities.

New South Wales Corrective Services Museum


Are you curious about the rich penal history of NSW? Then the Corrective Services Museum in Cooma is just the place for you to visit.

Located between Cooma Court House and the Correctional Centre in Cooma, the Museum displays a collection of objects relating to punishment and crime from the mid 19th century such as manacles and leg irons, convict and prisoner clothing, weapons and escape devices, photos and visual documentation.

The museum provides an insight into the daily routine of jails from early days through to modern times.

Inmate art and craft is also available to purchase.

Minimum security inmates are the tour guides through the museum.

Inmate arts and crafts are for sale along with Aboriginal art.

Truffle Hunt - Inspiration


From start to finish immerse yourself in hours of black truffles during this inspirational All Day event. After a brisk start to the morning harvesting truffle with the truffle dogs Fahren and Tawdiffu you return to the truffle barn where the feasting begins. It's a chance to slow down a little, meet new friends and try some of the most creative food on the farm from amuse-bouche to speciacular desserts. This truffle inspiration includes an eight course degustation and is a food lovers must. Truffle hunting and dining


Situated eight kilometres from the village of Bredbo in the Snowy Monaro region, Macenmist Black Truffles and Wines offers you the chance to explore the hidden delights of the Perigord black truffle. Frosty winter mornings herald the ripening of the underground truffles and visitors are encouraged to rug-up and venture out with the truffle dogs as they hunt for the elusive black gold.

Michelago Pony Club Gymkhana and Sporting Spectacular



See the best young riders from the region compete at the Michelago Pony Club's Double Chance Sporting Gymkhana. There are several fun and exciting sporting events with riders having two attempts at each sporting event, with only the rider's best time counted.

The winner of the flag spectacular will be awarded the Man from Snowy River Medallion.

Annual Bredbo Sheep Dog Trials

Bredbo CWA Village Markets


Bredbo CWA Village Markets are held on the fourth Sunday of the month from 9am to 3pm in the Community Hall and grounds. The wide range of indoor and outdoor stalls has all manner of goods to buy. Local arts and crafts, woodwork, home wares, plus local produce including vegetables, honey and plants.

Cooma Sundowners Cup


Head to the Ti Tree Racecourse for the biggest race day in Cooma. Held annually, early in December, with the main race being the Sundowners Cup - named in honour of the movie The Sundowners which was filmed in and around Cooma, Adaminaby and Nimmitabel in 1959.

One thousand locals were extras at the Ti Tree Racecourse when the race scene was filmed for the movie. Come and experience a great day out at the races.

2018 will be the 26th year of the Sundowners Cup - come to the social event of the year!
