Greenwell Point is a fishing village 15 kilometres east of Nowra on the estuary of the Crookhaven River. Here you'll find oyster farms and fresh fish is readily available. Greenwell Point is home to the Best Fish and Chips in NSW at Pelican Rocks.

There are three boat ramps and picnic areas for you and your family to use.

Accommodation is available in caravan parks, motels and self-contained houses.

The Point Gallery and Craft Greenwell Point


The Point Gallery and Craft overlooks the beautiful Crookhaven River in the small fishing village of Greenwell Point.

The Gallery was set up in 2008 as a Community Art Gallery to showcase unique local art and craft of the residents of Greenwell Point and The Shoalhaven. Their local artisans produce ceramics, leatherwork, woodcraft, felting, knitting, mosaics and original paintings in many mediums from watercolours, acrylics, pastels and much more.

The Gallery also holds regular Exhibitions of local artists works.

The Gallery also houses The Greenwell Point History Group display of historical Photos and Books.

The Gallery is also an appointed Tourism Ambassador and provides information maps and Literature of the Shoalhaven Only.

Greenwell Point Markets


The Greenwell Point Markets stalls include fishing gear, jewellery, homemade soft goods of all sorts, plants, natural timber products, homemade soaps, pegs and sauces, seashell wind chimes, and many more products.

This market is run by Marine Rescue Shoalhaven and is a fundraiser to assist them with offering their 24 hour daily service to the boating public of the Shoalhaven.

Greenwell Point Markets are held on the third Sunday of the month at Greenwell Point Bowling Club

Comerong Island


Comerong Island is located on the southern end of Seven Mile Beach. To get onto the island you are required to take a small car ferry across the water from Comerong Island Rd across Berry's Canal. The island features Comerong Island Nature Reserve and part of the Shoalhaven Estuary which is famous for its resident shorebird population.

Crookhaven Heads Lighthouse


The original Crookhaven Heads Lighthouse was constructed of timber in 1882 and located as part of the Shoalhaven Signal Station on the beach 200 metres to the west of the current lighthouse. The new brick lighthouse to the south of the mouth of the Shoalhaven River was commissioned in 1904 and the old wooden lighthouse was immediately demolished.

Aside from the Keepers Cottages at South Solitary Island, this is probably the most endangered lighthouse in New South Wales, which should be of great concern to lighthouse enthusiasts and the community at large.

The lighthouse is located on the south side of the entrance to the Shoalhaven River just east of Nowra.

Tilbury Cove


Tilbury Cove is located on the Eastern end of Culburra Beach and backs onto Penguin Head. It is often calmer than other nearby beaches, but surf can sometimes be found peeling off the headland into the cove. Its grassy area, amenities and protection from the wind make it a great picnic spot.

Greenwell Point Kids Fishing Workshop


NSW Fisheries runs four hour kids fishing workshops for eight -14 year olds. The kids learn how fish responsibly in a safe and fun environment.

NSW DPI fishing workshops include fun lessons on fishing techniques, information on NSW fishing rules, best methods to maximise released fish survival and a practical fishing session in a safe location.

Cost per child includes quality rod and reel, shirt, hat, tackle box, show bag.
Bookings are essential - Maximum 25 participants.

NSW DPI fishing workshops are run with the assistance of the Fishcare Volunteers and are supported by funds from the Recreational Fishing Trusts.

Burradise Festival at Culburra Beach

The Culburra Beach Markets are held on the first Sunday of every month.

Pyree Village Art and Handmade Market


The Pyree Village Art and Handmade Market is run on the fourth Sunday of each month January to November, 9am through 1.30pm, and on the third Sunday in December at 9am through 1.30pm. It is held at the Shoalhaven Potters Workshop adjacent to the distinctive red Pyree Hall on Greenwell Point Road, at the intersection of Pyree Lane through to Culburra Beach.

Stalls feature local produce, arts, crafts, pottery, woodcraft, needlecraft, natural fibre baskets, plants, cakes, jams, clothing and much, much more. The market specialises in handmade articles and goods and not commercial produce.

A sausage sizzle is available with tea and coffee or cold drinks.
