Menangle is part of the Wollondilly Shire. Established as a village to service the operations of Camden Park Estate, the railway bridge over the Nepean River is the oldest in use today. The opening of the railway in 1863 enabled overnight milk deliveries to the Sydney Market, beating the summer heat in the days before refrigeration. The Store, built in 1904, sells everything from antiques to groceries to saddlery and ice creams.

Camden Park House

The building and design of Camden Park House began in 1832 and was completed in 1835, a year after John Macarthur's death. Architect, John Verge, designed the mansion in Palladian style with a central two-storey block with one-storey wings and extensions at each side. Camden Park House, which has become one of the great mansions of Australia, is still occupied by the Macarthur family and is thought to be one of the oldest residences in the country still occupied by descendants. The family burial ground is located nearby and is the last resting place of John Macarthur and his direct descendants.

Camden Park House is open to the public one weekend per year during September for the Camden Festival.

Razorback Ridge Wines Open Weekends

Sit back and relax with a view of the vineyards, while enjoying some of Macarthur's finest wines at Razorback Ridge Wines. The Macarthur area has been referred to as the birthplace of the Australian wine industry. It was named after John and Elizabeth Macarthur who were pioneers and founders in both the wool and wine industries.

These early settlers first farmed the area over 200 years ago and they planted one of the first commercial vineyards in Australia. It is in this area some 180 years later that the vineyard at Razorback Ridge Wines is planted. The vines are hand pruned and handpicked to ensure premium quality fruit, the current vines were planted in the year 2000.

Every Saturday and Sunday (closed January and June)
