Jimna: Where To Go / Sightseeing

Landcruiser Mountain Park

Landcruiser Mountain Park at Jimna, just two hours from Brisbane via Kilcoy, is a working cattle property and Queensland's first privately owned wilderness park designed for off-road and bush camping enthusiasts. There are 250 kilometres of specially designed four wheel drive trails, varying in standard to suit beginner and experienced off-road drivers.

Rated as one of the top ten camping spots in South East Queensland, the park has grassed, shady camping areas beside the creeks where you can relax around the campfire and enjoy the peace and quiet of the Australian bush.

Four wheel drive and two wheel drive vehicles can access all the main camping areas with trailers, vans and campervans. The 4 main camping areas all have gas hot showers and toilets, one of these also has handicap facilities.

Dogs are allowed but no motorbikes.

The park office carries drinks, ice, milk, bread. Basic supplies including fuel, gas refills and groceries can be replenished from Kilcoy which is 60 kilometres away. A public payphone is located at the office. The park should be regarded as a wilderness area in every sense.

Conondale National Park

Conondale National Park forms the heart of an extensive area of unspoilt mountain scenery in the Conondale Range. With magnificent forests, deep gorges and spectacular views, this park and the adjacent State forest offer scenic drives, picnic areas and a choice of four grassy camp sites near rainforests and mountain streams.

Walks range from a short stroll beside crystal clear streams, to challenging hikes including to Mount Allan fire tower or along the four-day 56 kilometre Conondale Range Great Walk. It is a picturesque and ecologically important area, protecting the habitats of many rare and threatened animals, including several species of frogs and the seldom-seen yellow-bellied glider.

Access is via gravel roads suitable for conventional vehicles with care. In wet weather, roads may be closed. The scenic drive starting on Booloumba Creek Road has several creek crossings that are only accessible by high clearance four-wheel-drive vehicles. Allow at least 90 minutes for the scenic drive and extra time for picnics and bushwalks.

Birdwatchers will enjoy Little Yabba Creek, while mountain bike and horse riders can explore the park and forest along vehicle tracks.
