Westbury, 25 kilometres (15.5 miles) west of Launceston, is a classic Georgian village surrounded by hedgerows and lanes reminiscent of England. The Village Green was originally a military camp. The surrounding land is rich and fertile and originally settled by Irish framers. There are many interesting attractions here - the Culzean gardens established in the 1840s, the Pearns Steam World collection of hundred-year-old agricultural machinery, the Westbury Maze, the National Trust's White House built in the 1840s, and antique shops.

Deloraine Golf Course


Deloraine Golf Course is a nine-hole course located in Tasmania's north-west historic town of Deloraine.
The 18-tee course features a challenging par three over a strategically placed dam. Lined with trees, the course has stunning views of Quamby Bluff and the Great Western Tiers mountain range. The Deloraine Golf Course is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse with fully-stocked bar and kitchen.
Test your skills on the two par fives and the longer par fours which challenge even the best of golfers. Enjoy the afternoon in peaceful surrounds and head into the clubhouse for a quiet drink after your round. While you are in Deloraine, visit nearby wineries or take a day trip to Cradle Mountain and walk in the wilderness. You may also like to explore the Limestone caves at Mole Creek.

Deloraine and Districts Folk Museum


The Deloraine and District Folk Museum was opened as the Family and Commercial Inn in 1864. Today it reflects the life of the country publican and his family. Housed in the extensive garden is a Pioneer Walk where you can view reproduction and reclaimed heritage buildings showcasing the lives, tools and farming equipment of early settlers. A new exhibition about chair maker, Jimmy Possum, is now open. Who was Jimmy Possum? Come along and learn about this Deloraine mystery.

Yarns Artwork in Silk


This large-scale textile treasure has been created in four panels, each measuring three-and-a-half metres by four metres. Crafted by more than 300 local artists, it took 10,000 hours and 200 metres of hand-dyed silk to complete. The artists have employed a number of techniques including embroidery, cross stitch, weaving, patchwork and quilting to create Yarns. Yarns Artwork in Silk tells the story of the local area - exploring its history, landscape and culture. The display includes an audio-visual presentation which expands on the work.
Deloraine and the surrounding district is one of Tasmania's most significant regional centres for art and crafts. Visit today and be amazed and inspired!

Sculpture Trail - Great Western Tiers


The Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail is a series of sculptures in and around Deloraine, Northern Tasmania. Deloraine is a 30-minute drive west of Launceston (48 km) and a 40-minute drive south-east of Devonport (51 km).
The Great Western Tiers form the northern face of Tasmania's Central Plateau, rising up to 1,420 metres above sea level. The innovative Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail emerged in Deloraine in 2002 as a celebration of the region's natural beauty and cultural diversity. You can follow the Sculpture Trail through the streets of Deloraine and along the banks of the Meander River to sites including Marakoopa Cave, King Solomons Cave, Alum Cliffs, Devils Gullet and Mole Creek. You'll see dozens of diverse creations by gifted Tasmanian artists, each combining with the landscape to make a profound and moving statement about the essence of this beautiful region. A map of the Great Western Tiers Sculpture Trail is available at the Great Western Tiers Visitor Centre in Deloraine.
Deloraine is a key regional art and craft centre in Tasmania and each November hosts the Tasmanian Craft Fair - a four-day event which draws artisans, crafts people and visual artists from throughout Australia and internationally.

Tasmania Zoo


Tasmania Zoo is the state's only fully-accredited Zoo, near Launceston in Tasmania's north.
Set amongst extensive natural bushland, the zoo has Tasmania's biggest collection of animals including the world's largest private devil breeding program. You will come face to face with the world-famous Tasmanian Devils who assist research into the devil facial tumour disease. Witness these fascinating creatures live, at the devil feedings and interpretation times, daily at 10.30am, 1pm and 3.30pm.
You will also see over 80 species of birds, from fairy penguins, swift parrots to macaws. Penguin feeding daily at 10am and 4pm.
You can enjoy hand feeding the native Australian animals like wallaby's, wombats, kangaroos and the domestic animals like sheep, cattle, goats, alpacas and miniature ponies.
Tasmania Zoo also has the second largest collection of Primates in any private Australian Zoo, along with many other exotic species, watch the Meerkat feeding daily at 11.30am and 2.10pm.
This is an excellent family destination, with a variety of activities including barbecues, picnic facilities, children's play area with swings, and an onsite caf? and gift shop.
Tasmania Zoo is a 20-minute drive (18 km) from Launceston.

Rupertswood Farm Crop Maze


Rupertswood Farm Crop Maze is an agri-tourism event that is held on our Tasmanian family farm each year. Attracting around 5,000 visitors annually, the Crop Maze is a fantastic day out for visitors to explore our bespoke Crop Maze - the only one in Australia - and visit our beautiful farm! The Crop Maze is open during to the public every March.
To develop the Crop Maze owners, Rowan and Anna Clark, work with international UK Maze specialists, Mazescape, each year to develop a new maze design to fit with a particular theme they have chosen. Rowan then 'cuts' the Maze into his five hectare maize crop, and customised games are developed for visitors to play within the Maze.
The Maze is open to the public to explore for a limited time (five weekends in March), before the crop is harvested. In addition to the Maze, there are other farm attractions in the maze courtyard for families to enjoy, such as hay bale structures for children to climb and vegetables to pick.
Gourmet food sourced from the farm is also on offer to visitors.

Agfest


A great way to spend a day, this event needs to be experienced, with everything for the farm and the home from machinery to jewellery.
Agfest, Tasmania's premier agricultural event, has the second highest attendance of all agricultural field days in Australia.
Agfest has grown from a small field day at a racetrack with 100 exhibitors in May 1983 to become one of the State's most popular multi-million dollar exhibitions with almost 60,000 patrons passing through the gates over the three days.
Agfest features over 700 exhibitors and has something for everyone. Attractions include agricultural machinery, banking and finance, machinery, hardware and small equipment, leisure, automotive, clothing and home wares, food, horticulture and livestock.
There are working displays of Tasmania's pioneering agricultural industry including working blacksmiths, draught horse displays and free rides, a selection of vintage machinery from the wool and timber industries, and steam engines and tractors.

Tasmanian Craft Fair 2018


The Tasmanian Craft Fair is the largest working display of arts and crafts in Australia with more than 200 artists and artisans and 20,000 annual visitors.
Every year since 1981, TCF visitors have been treated to fine art displays, craft stalls, gourmet food, entertainment and children's fun activities as well as working craft displays.
