Devonport Regional Gallery

The Devonport Regional Gallery is a regional public art gallery in North West Tasmania.
Housed in a converted 19th century church in the town's centre, the Devonport Regional Gallery presents an annual program of exhibitions, education and public programs including events and workshops. The program showcases emerging artist's work in The Little Gallery, which is an annex to the Main Gallery. It is also home to Devonport City Council's Permanent Collection comprising textiles, ceramics, glass, sculpture, paintings and works on paper by iconic Tasmanian and Australian artists.
Admission to the Devonport Regional Gallery is by donation and is open daily. On Public Holidays the Gallery is open 1 pm - 5 pm, excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Devonport is a small coastal city, a one-hour-and-15-minute drive (101 km) from Launceston. Nearby you can visit the working exhibits at the Don River Railway Museum or explore Tasmania's seagoing history at the Bass Strait Maritime Centre.
The Gallery is supported by the Devonport City Council, Arts Tasmania, Special Committee, Friends of the Gallery and the Gallery's young member's committee The Droogs. Other funding is received through the Australian Governments Deductible Gift Recipient Status.

The Tasmanian Trail is a long distance (480 km) multi-purpose recreational trail extending from Devonport on the northern coast to Dover in the south.

Bass Strait Maritime Centre Devonport

Bass Strait Maritime Centre Devonport is situated in parkland at the mouth of the Mersey River. Through objects, images and interactive displays, the Centre explores the themes of the natural history of Bass Strait and its islands, European exploration, settlement, early shipbuilders and entrepreneurs, shipwrecks, the impact of steam, the creation of the Port City of Devonport and Naval history. A simulated experience 'Take the Helm of the SS Woniora' gives visitors a chance to test their skills and bring a 1910 steamer into the Mersey River or through the heads of Port Phillip Bay. The newly restored Julie Burgess ketch though, provides the real experience. Two-hour sailings operate from October through to the end of June on Wednesdays and Sundays subject to weather conditions00, taking passengers out into Bass Strait and back!

Devonport Jazz Festival

Tasmania's only winter Jazz Festival!
Held on the last weekend in July, Devonport Jazz returns in 2018 with a program full to the brim of jazz.

The festival features award-winning a Cappella sextet Skety, direct from the Czech Republic. Described as the future of a Capella groups, Skety are a fresh and contemporary spin on traditional jazz vocals.

Other Highlights include quirky Melbourne duo Lily and King, Sydney Crooner Gregg Arthur with his smooth vocal style reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, and the ultimate 1930s party band The Furbelows.

Devonport Jazz is pleased to welcome The Hobart Jazz Quartet to the festival, led by 2017 Australian Jazz Hall of Fame inductee Ted Vining and playing the music of John Lewis and the Modern Jazz Quartet.

Devonport Jazz will also feature community events such as Street Eats and the Providore Place Sunday Market where food and artisan products will be the main course with a side of jazz performance.

Why not make a weekend of it and explore the food,wine and scenery that the region is famed for. There is more than meets the eye in Devonport, and Devonport Jazz is a great excuse to visit.

2019 Jewellery, Gem and Mineral Fair

Come and see beautiful and amazing pieces of jewellery, plus gem, minerals and fossils from Tasmania, mainland Australia and around the world. The pieces are showcased to admire as well as purchase.
