The Town of 1770 is the birthplace of Queensland - explore this picturesque area of the Central Queensland Coastline in an ex-military Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo (L.A.R.C) vessel, fondly known as the LARC ! Take a journey into history over vast sandy beaches and crystal clear waters to experience the beauty that greeted Lieutenant James Cook when he stepped ashore here more than two centuries ago. Travel along the coastline of Eurimbula National Park whilst listening to informative commentary on the abundant wildlife and history of Bustard Bay and the Town of 1770. Your LARC! vessel will cross four tidal creeks before four wheel driving up the steep climb to the historic Bustard Head Lightstation. Enjoy an interpretive tour through the head lightkeeper's cottage, the lighthouse tower and stroll to the lightstation cemetery. This informative guided day tour in pristine natural surrounds also includes the exhilaration of sandboarding down 35 metre dunes and into the tidal creek.
