You'll get to Dinner Plain on the Hume Highway, turning off at Wangaratta to the all-weather sealed Great Alpine Road. The drive takes around four-and-a-half hours. Don't forget snow chains when going up the mountains during snow season, and take a 4WD if you're planning to head off the main roads.

7 Peaks Run - Dinner Plain

Soak up the pristine alpine environment and challenge yourself to experience a trail run at an altitude above 1550 metres. The trail runs of Dinner Plain are for the beginner to the enthusiast with runs varying between 5 to 11 kilometres.

The trails run in and out of Dinner Plain village and are a combination of easy fast flat well utilised multi-purpose trails to technical trails featuring, inclines, descents and single track sections.

Get running and take in some of the most magnificent views of the Victorian High Country across Mt Hotham and Mt Feathertop, stunning and certainly cooler in the early hours of the day and at sunset.

Test and build your stamina on a series of 21 colour-coded runs covering more than 200 kilometres through the 7 Peaks of Victoria - Mt Baw Baw, Mount Buffalo, Mt Buller, Dinner Plain, Falls Creek, Hotham and Lake Mountain, with a trail to suit every level of fitness and experience.

Weave your way through Snow Gum forests and towering stands of Mountain Ash, duck between a jumble of granite boulders and sweep past vibrant carpets of wildflowers.

Dinner Plain Sled Dog Challenge

The Annual Dinner Plain Sled Dog Challenge event showcases the top dogs of sled dog racing in Australia and is unique in being the first Australian snow-based race of its kind.

More than 80 mushers (dog team drivers) and in excess of 350 sled dogs are expected to compete at this year's event. The race is held over two days.

This year spectators will see two, three, four and six-dog teams supplemented by the exhilarating eight-dog team class. If your plans are to attend this popular weekend you are definitely in for a unique experience.

Grab your camera, winter woollies and rug up for this exciting and exhilarating high country event exclusive to Dinner Plain.

Celebrate Australia Day with Flickerfest's Best of Australian Short Film screening on a giant outdoor screen.

Bring your picnic blankets, bean bags and warm woollies and snuggle up under the stars to be one of the first to see the 2019 Flickerfest selections for the Best of Australian Shorts category.

Flickerfest is Australia's only Academy Award and BAFTA accredited short film festival and Dinner Plain is proud to host this event.

The 2019 film line up will be announced later in the year.

Geebung Polo

Who will win the survival of the fittest, in a game twisted with competitive sportsmanship and character, this year? Do not miss this classic Australian event held every Easter Sunday.

The event hosts a fun day out for the whole family packed full with live music, helicopter rides and Easter eggs, tug-o-war, food and wine stalls, fashions on the field, face painting, jumping castle and much more for the entire family. Bring a picnic rug and a chair, back up the car, sit back and relax.

Dinner Plain brings you a lot more than the Geebung versus Cuff and Collar Polo Match at Cobungra Station, but a host of Easter activities. Celebrate with your friends and family by breathing in the crisp Alpine air, take in sweeping vista views and relax in the pure high country this Easter.

Hosted on the grounds of the beautiful Cobungra Station, a 20 minute drive down the road from Dinner Plain. Return buses can be pre-booked from Dinner Plain.

Tickets will be available online to purchase along with return shuttle buses from Hotham and Dinner Plain.

Mile High Trail Run

Set at 1600 metres above sea level - one mile high - in the surrounds of Dinner Plain Alpine Village, the annual Mile High Trail Run is a great event for all ages and abilities.

Choose from four runs: one, five, 10 or 21 kilometres.

Follow trails that weave among the snow gums and out to stunning mountain vistas while enjoying the pristine alpine air, then find yourself back at at the quaint village of Dinner Plain with its award winning mountain chalets.

Book online to reserve your place. Registration is at Dinner Plain Hut, barbecue area from 8:30am to 9:30am on Saturday.

For registration and collection of race bibs and advice on carrying bad weather gear.

Pre event briefing/dinner at Hotel High Plains on Friday night at 8:00pm.

Age limit: Six years of age on race day to compete in the five/10 kilometre. 16 years of age on race day to compete in the 21 kilometre.

Dinner Plain Easter Festival

Experience the High Country's biggest Easter festival.

Each year, the alpine village of Dinner Plain puts on one of the best Easter celebrations around. It is a magnificent escape for families with a wide variety of activities and entertainment for all ages.

The village is a hive of activity on Easter Saturday from 11:00am to 3:00pm there will be children's activities including a circus show and play, story telling, magic show, jumping castles and face painting.

On Sunday from 9:00am the Grand Easter Egg Hunt is a must-do for all kids, and it is completely free. You might even see the Easter Bunny himself. Meet at the Dinner Plain Hut just before 9:00am to find your age group and be taken to the secret hunt location.

At 10:00am enjoy the Dinner Plain Geebung Polo Match. Jump on the shuttle bus (which must be pre-booked) and head down to The Geebung Polo at the scenic Cobungra Station - Victoria's largest cattle station, and watch the city slickers take on the High Country cattlemen in a no rules game of polo. New Year's Eve in Dinner Plain
