The historic town of Moe at the western end of Victoria's Latrobe Valley offers a glimpse of life in Gippsland in the nineteenth century, with its preserved buildings and historic sites and a fascinating heritage park.

Step back in time to the 1850s and visit Old Gippstown, Gippsland's Heritage Park, featuring recreated streets with authentic old buildings, horse-drawn carriages, agricultural machinery, and a general store.

Moe also offers good contemporary shopping and dining, with nearby bushland and lakes providing fun-filled recreational activities for visitors. The Moe to Yallourn Rail Trail takes in the diverse sites of the bushland, lakes and distant mountain views, as well as the imposing Yallourn Power station. Enjoy the scenic walks of the Edward Hunter Bush Reserve.

The nearby Old Brown Coal Mine Museum in Yallourn North details the history of coal mining in the region. Moe also serves as a gateway to the historic goldfields at Walhalla and the snowfields at Mt Baw Baw and Mt St Gwinear.

Moe is about an hour and forty-five minutes by car from Melbourne along the Princes Highway.

Moondarra State Park


Moondarra State Park is known for its wildflower displays, particularly along Seninis Track where sixteen species of native orchid have been recorded.

Scenic drives, bushwalks, picnicking, swimming, camping, fishing and nature study are popular activities. Some roads are suitable for bike riding.

Spring is the main wildflower season and along with summer, are the most popular times to visit the park. Although, there is plenty to do all year round.

Tyers Park


Set in the foothills to the north of the Latrobe Valley, Tyers Park encompasses the fine scenery of the Tyers Gorge where the Tyers River winds between steep forested slopes. The park has an abundance of diverse wildflowers and the birdlife, making it a favourite destination for naturalists. Outcrops of limestone and conglomerate are of geological interest. The limestone contains both plant and animal fossils.

Popular activities at Tyers Park include scenic drives, bushwalks, picnicking, swimming, fishing and nature study.

Baw Baw National Park


Covering a substantial part of the Baw Baw Plateau and sections of the Thomson and Aberfeldy River valleys, Baw Baw National Park offers colourful wildflowers in early summer and open grassy plains with Snow Gum woodlands.

Mount St Gwinear, Mount Erica and the Baw Baw Alpine Village are ideal bases for bushwalking.

The Thomson River downstream of the Thomson Dam offers some of the best white water rafting in Victoria.

In winter, the park is ideal for ski touring and has a variety of marked trails to suit the skills of skiers.

Through their cultural traditions, the Gunaikurnai identify the Baw Baw National Park as their Traditional Country. Old Gippstown


Step back in time to the 18502 s and enjoy a visit to Old Gippstown, Gippsland's Heritage Park in Moe. This complete historical township filled with authentic buildings and d?cor makes an ideal venue for weddings and functions.

Old Gippstown is also renowned for its Coach house which contains one of Victoria's best collections of horse drawn vehicles.

The beautiful garden settings are perfect for picnics and barbecues. You can also see a large variety of agricultural and industrial machinery ranging from horse drawn, steam-driven or manually operated, and the blacksmiths forge, in which many were manufactured.

The General Store and The Water Wheel garden dressmaking shop contain displays of original implements used around the home in the 1850s. Tynong Theatre, at which a screening of old black and white movies, newsreel and shorts can be arranged for visitors. Prior arrangements must be made.

Visit the local police station and spend a short stretch in the local jail.

Drop past the local doctor's quarters - do not forget to look out for the ghost.

There will be a range of activities from the Blacksmith to candy sales in the old General Store. People will be dressed in period costumes. Come to the old Printers and get a wanted poster made or play some old fashioned games and go for a horse and cart ride.

Father's Day Car Show and Market


Custom and Classic Car Club's tenth annual Father's Day car show, hosted amongst the settings of Old Gippstown, Moe, and proudly supported by Lumley Special Vehicles. This year there will be something for everyone, with market stalls, dodgem cars, show cars, hot rods and more.

Fairies in the Park


Fairies in the park is a great day out for all the family but this year it will be epic. Old Gippstown invites all fairies to come and attempt breaking the world record of the most fairies in one place. To be included in the world record attempt all fairies must have wings, a tutu and a wand.

There will be activities run on the day, but everyone needs to be in the one place at 12:00pm near the old Gippstown water wheel to be counted. So grab your wings, grab your wand and have a magical day.

Bookings essential as everyone's registration details are needed. Call Old Gippstown between 10:00am and 4:00pm, Monday to Friday to book and pay $5.
