An early morning pick-up from your hotel for a scenic coach transfer to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. On arrival, board the SeaLink ferry for the 45-minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will collect your hire car from Budget Rent-A-Car Kangaroo Island inside the Penneshaw SeaLink Ferry Terminal then begin to explore Kangaroo Island at your leisure.
Kangaroo Island is over 155km in length and 55km wide and is Australia’s third largest Island boasting some of South Australia's most stunning beaches. Take in the spectacular coastal scenery, scenic landscapes, and fantastic National Parks.
Whilst Kangaroo Island is much celebrated for its wildlife, its food, wine and local produce are integral parts of the Kangaroo Island experience. Taste organic honey and sample honey products from the Island’s famous Ligurian Bee. Take a guided tour through the stages of distillation at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, the only commercial distillery still in operation in South Australia. Enjoy some of Kangaroo Island’s fine, home grown and award-winning wines and take in the stunning scenery surrounding the vineyards and cellar doors. Sip on the gins, vodkas, and liqueurs at KI Spirits, made using native Australian Botanicals and locally grown or sourced ingredients.
Enjoy an interactive, hands on and educational experience at Raptor Domain with either their Birds of Prey ‘free-flight’ display or Fang-Tastic shows. You can swim with dolphins or hop on board a fishing charter; enjoy swimming, snorkelling, surfing and scuba diving too. If you’d rather keep your feet on terra firma, there’s bushwalking, quad biking and sandboarding at Little Sahara (fees may apply).
Explore the wonders of this great Island such as the Seal Bay Conservation Park where you can join a guided beach tour with an experienced Park Ranger and walk amongst a colony of rare and wild Australian sea lions – a truly amazing and unforgettable experience (own expense).
Visit Flinders Chase National Park, a sanctuary for native Australian wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and echidnas. Get some awesome photo opportunities at Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, a natural nursery and haven for playful Long nosed Fur Seals that can be seen resting, swimming and playing in the waves or on the rocks (entry fee into Flinders Chase National Park not included).
On day 2, drop off your rental vehicle then board the 7:30pm SeaLink ferry for the transfer back to Cape Jervis, and connect with the coach transfer to Adelaide.

BUDGET RENT A CAR - KANGAROO ISLAND
1. DRIVERS LICENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Budget will rent to drivers that present a current drivers licence and have held that licence for 12 months.
For all rentals a foreign license must be in English. If the Foreign license is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by an International Drivers Permit (containing an English translation).
Budget will not rent to any person on a Provisional or Probationary drivers licence.
2. AGE REQUIREMENTS:
Drivers must be over 21 years of age at time of rental. Drivers aged 21-24 years incur a surcharge.
3. INSURANCE:
Loss Damage Waiver: Loss Damage Waiver is the insurance coverage (included in the rates) provided on the rental vehicle and Third Party Property which is subject to the excess. Loss Damage Waiver is also subject to terms and conditions detailed on the rental agreement.
Standard Accident Excess: When a Budget vehicle is involved in an accident the Excess is applicable providing the vehicle is used in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the rental agreement and the laws of the state. Failure to adhere to the Terms and Conditions and laws of the state will result in the renter being responsible for all damage and costs associated with the vehicle.
Excess: $4,400.00 (includes GST)
Excess Reduction may be purchased locally to reduce the excess.
Note: The renter must always pay to Budget the following costs and fees:
The cost of repairing any:
- Overhead Damage - damage to the Vehicle or property of any third party caused by the Vehicle coming into contact with anything above the top of the door seal and the top of the front and back windscreens.
- Underbody Damage - damage to the Vehicle caused by the Vehicle coming into contact with anything below the bottom of the door seal and the bottom of the front and rear bumper bars.
- Water damage to the Vehicle.
- Damage to the Vehicle or to the property of any third party caused by a breach of the Rental Agreement.
- Damage to a tyre or an Accessory not attributable to normal wear and tear.
The cost of any professional cleaning or odour extraction incurred by Budget because the driver or another person has been smoking in the Vehicle during the Rental Period and/or a reasonable administrative fee reflecting the cost of making arrangements for professional cleaning or smoke extraction.
4. RESTRICTED DRIVING ROADS / AREAS:
Night driving is not permitted on Kangaroo Island. If an accident occurs between dusk and dawn, the renter will be responsible for all damage irrespective of circumstances.
5. WHERE YOU CAN AND CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE:
Vehicles must only be driven on roads which are properly formed and constructed as a sealed, metalled or gravel road. Vehicles must not be driven on unmade roads e.g. farm tracks, through scrub, on beaches or through rivers or floodwaters.
6. LOCATIONS:
Kangaroo Island only - Penneshaw Ferry Terminal.
7. DEPOSITS:
All rentals are subject to a deposit at the time of vehicle collection to cover miscellaneous/optional charges and may also have to cover the applicable insurance excess and a $100.00 fuel bond. A credit or debit card is required. Budget Australia accepts all major credit cards. A fee of 1.29% (including GST will be charged to all credit and debit transactions. Debit cards will be accepted if they must meet the following requirements: Be issued by a recognised bank, Display the Visa or Master Card logo and hologram, Display the Cardholder Name and Display the Card Number. Prepaid and Reloadable Debit Cards as well as Travel Cards and EFTPOS cards will not be accepted.
The amount of the deposit is not debited to the card at rental collection; an authority only is taken until the conclusion of the rental when any applicable charges will be debited.
All renters must provide a credit card or approved debit card to enable the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to directly charge their applicable toll fees.
