Make your way to Public Beach on Wray Street to commence your Oyster Tasting Kayak Tour. The magnificent Clyde River Estuary system is home to some of the most successful Oyster farmers on the South Coast of NSW, paddle and taste the romance of the finest oysters from the purest Australian waters. Begin with an introduction of your equipment and get used to the kayak with a quick paddle tutorial. Slip onto the calm smooth waters of the Clyde river in your double seakayak and make your way to the beginning at the edge of the Wray Street Oyster Shed. Learn about the local cultivation techniques, the science behind farming, oyster varieties and life as an oyster farmer from Jade, Greg and Enola from the Oyster Shed on Wray Street. Be treated, eating the freshest oysters you can, taken from the river that morning. Kayak through working oyster farms, between liveracks brimming with product, past packing sheds all within easy float ing distance of your starting location at the Batemans Bay bridge, all part of the Batemans Marine Park and Clyde River National Park. Along our journey we often have many chance sightings of rare, interesting or endangered birds, all kinds of ocean life and other interesting plants and ecological sights. Learn from experienced guides about anything which pops up along the way. Take the final paddle back to the Oyster Shed, where you can recap on your experience and purchase fresh Oysters to t ake away t o enjoy later with your favourite bottle of wine.
