Have the freedom to explore Winton and the best it has to offer. Visit Carisbrooke Station to see the spectacular scenery of the region, marvel at the preservation of 3300 dinosaur footprints made 95 million years ago at the Dinosaur Stampede, see the dinosaur bones being found in the local area at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs, hear about the explorers and pioneers of the region, the hardship of station life and the events that shaped Winton and its people.
Day 1: Sunday
Arrival into Winton late afternoon and make your own way to Winton Outback Motel.
Day 2: – Monday
Pick up 08:15am from Reception. 08:30am - 04:00pm: Carisbrooke station and Dinosaur Stampede Day Tour. Travel to Carisbrooke station to marvel at the natural wonders and history of this spectacular location. See the Three Sisters before you head to the Dinosaur Stampede at Lark Quarry Conservation Park. Morning tea and lunch are included. 04:00pm - Arrive back in Winton. (B,L).
DAY 3 – Tuesday
Pick up 08:15am from Reception. Half day tour to Australian Age of Dinosaurs - Visit the Australian Age of dinosaurs (AAOD) with the largest collection of Australian dinosaur bones in the world. Morning tea is provided. Lunch at leisure and own cost.
Pick up 01:45pm from reception for an afternoon half day tour to Bladensburg National Park - Bladensburg national park is steeped in History but also has the rugged beauty of rock formation and diverse ecosystem. Afternoon tea is provided. Arrive back around 6.00pm (B).
DAY 4 – Wednesday
Visit the Waltzing Matilda Centre (voucher provided). This museum is a fabulous celebration of the unofficial national song and the history of Winton. Take time to wander the main street and visit some of the other free/low-cost things of Winton. Lunch at leisure and own cost. Pick up 04:00pm on a Rangeland Rifts and Sunset Tour. This tour includes a walk through the Rangelands Rifts (rocky chasms), a glass of wine and nibbles at sunset. Arrive back around 7.00pm (B).
DAY 5 – Thursday
Departure - Those staying in Winton or departing later, the coffee cube is open at 07:30am. For those departing Winton on the Rail connect Bus to Longreach and the spirit of the Outback train, you will be provided a continental breakfast pack to your room on Wednesday afternoon for your early departure and travel. (B).
