Transfers for the Gold Service in Darwin: - Complimentary shuttle bus transfers are available in Darwin to selected hotels in the city centre. - At the time of booking, please ensure the guests hotel is advised to the Rail Australia reservations team. Maximum Passengers per Cabin: - 1 Adult (sole use). Bedding Configuration (subject to availability): - 1 upper Single sleeping berth and 1 lower Single sleeping berth (converts to a 3 seater lounge). Luggage Allowance: - 2 x 30Kg checked in luggage. Checked in luggage can not be accessed during the journey. - Plus one overnight bag not exceeding 10kg per person and 1 personal bag. - Luggage check in opens 2.5 hours before departure and closes 60 mins prior to departure. Gold Service: Accommodation: - Well appointed day and overnight Cabin accommodation. - Twin cabins feature a 3 seater lounge converting to upper and lower sleeping berths plus ensuite facilities with toilet, washbasin and shower. - Complimentary toiletries are provided. - The cabins are fully serviced by carriage attendants with fresh sheets, pillows and continental quilts. - Cabins feature 3 pin/ 240 volt power outlets. - In-cabin music channels and journey audio commentary are available. Lounge: - The relaxed setting of the Outback Explorer Lounge offers a place to socialise and meet fellow travellers from all corners of the world or sit back and enjoy the passing parade of Australian landscapes. - The Lounge has a licensed bar and is the ideal place to gather for a drink before dinner or for a game of cards and a nightcap with new friends. Dining: - The Queen Adelaide Restaurant is open to all Gold Service guests for breakfast, two course lunch and three course dinner. - All meals are included in the Gold Service fare. - All inclusive Australian wines, beers, base spirits and non-alcoholic beverages. - Vegetarian, children and some special dietary meals can be accommodated. Off Train Experiences: - Stop in Marla, Alice Springs and Katherine. - Enjoy either extended touring options or step off the train to immerse yourself in some of Australia's most remote outback settings. - Times and experiences may vary. - All Off Train Experiences are subject to weather and changes through the year and may vary by season. Cancellation Policy Valid for 01JAN24-31DEC24: FULLY FLEXIBLE: Deposit: - 100% of booking fee is due immediately on booking. Guest Amendments: - Amendments are allowed up to 1 day prior to departure without any fees. Guest Cancellations: - Fully refundable until 1 day before departure. - No refund for bookings cancelled 1 day or less prior to travel or in the event of a no-show. EVERYDAY FARE: Deposit: - 25% of booking fee is due immediately on booking. - This is fully refundable for change of mind within 14 days of booking, if booked more than 60 days prior to departure. Final Payment: - Final payment is due 45 days prior to departure. Guest Amendments: - Amendments are allowed up to 45 days prior to departure with a fee of AUD99.00 per guest. - Within 45 days of travel any amendments will be treated as a cancellation. - A request to reduce the number of guests travelling will incur any applicable cancellation fees. - Guests will be subject to pay any fare difference which may apply when amending travel date. Guest Amendments due to Government Imposed Restrictions: - Amendments are allowed 45 days and under prior to original scheduled departure, amendment to travel date allowed at any time without fees. If new travel date is not selected see 'Force Majeure Cancellations'. Guest Cancellations: - A fee of 25% of total booking cost will be charged for bookings cancelled more than 45 days prior to travel (loss of deposit). - No refund for bookings cancelled 45 days or less prior to travel or in the event of a no-show. Valid for 01JAN24-31DEC25: CANCELLATION DETAILS: Your Rail Journey could be cancelled under one of the following three circumstances: 1. A cancellation arising from your actions, through no fault of JBRE (Journey Beyond Rail Expeditions) - see 'Guest Cancellations' above. 2. A cancellation by JBRE arising from external consequences that make performance of the agreement impossible (such as a Force Majeure event, or the actions of a third party eg. new government regulation) - see 'Force Majeure Cancellations'. 3. Any other cancellation by JBRE - see 'JBRE' Cancellations. Force Majeure Cancellations: For all fare types, in the event of a Force Majeure Cancellation, JBRE will provide you with a credit note of an amount equal to the monies paid to JBRE under the booking. The credit note can be applied to the cost of a future Rail Journey or Holiday Package. Time limits and other criteria and conditions may apply. JBRE Cancellations: For all fare types, in the event of a JBRE Cancellation, JBRE will provide you with the option to receive one of the following: 1. (where available) travel on an alternative non-rail holiday package of similar value, that gets you to the scheduled end destination; 2. an alternate rail service of the same value at a later date; 3. a full refund of monies paid to JBRE under the booking; or 4. a credit note of an amount equal to the monies paid to JBRE under the booking. Refund Payment: Any credit note or refund payable by JBRE under this agreement will be calculated to take into account the monies actually paid under the booking and the amount of the Rail Journey or Holiday Package that has been used. Any refund will be payable to the person who paid for the booking or to the first person named on the booking. If a booking was made through a Travel Agent, any refund will be returned to that Travel Agent for their payment to the guest. Credit Note: A credit note can be applied to the cost of a future Rail Journey or Holiday package. Time limits and other criteria and conditions may apply. Credit notes are not transferrable or redeemable for a refund. Once a credit note has been redeemed, the value of the credit becomes non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Service Disruption: A Service Disruption is a full or partial cancellation of your Rail Journey after your Rail Journey has commenced. In the event of a Service Disruption, JBRE will, subject to its obligations under the Australian Consumer Law, use reasonable endeavours to re-route you to the next destination by any form of transport at JBRE’s cost.
