Maximum Passengers per cabin: - 2 Adults and 1 Child. Bedding Configuration (subject to availability): - 1 Double (3/4 size) sleeping berth and 1 fold-down upper Single sleeping berth. Luggage Allowance: - 2 x 30Kg checked in luggage. Checked in luggage can not be accessed during the journey. - Plus one overnight bag not exceeding 10kg per person and 1 personal bag. - Luggage check in opens 2.5 hours before departure and closes 60 mins prior to departure. Gold Suite: Accommodation: - Gold Suites are twice the size of Gold Service Twin Cabins (availability of Suite Cabins is limited, generally only 1 Gold Suite per train). - Double (3/4 size) bed plus additional fold down upper single bed. - Private lounge area with table, arm chairs, TV with DVD player, mini bar fridge stocked with complimentary refreshments. Lounge: - The relaxed setting of the Outback Explorer Lounge offers a place to socialise and meet fellow travellers from all corners of the world or sit back and enjoy the passing parade of Australian landscapes. - The Lounge has a licensed bar and is the ideal place to gather for a drink before dinner or for a game of cards and a nightcap with new friends. Dining: - Gold Service guests travelling aboard The Ghan, dine in the beautifully decorated Queen Adelaide Restaurant Car. - All meals are included in the Gold Service fare. - Superb three course meals are served by friendly waiters, on elegant china, accompanied by fine glassware and cutlery. - All Standard Beverages whilst on board whilst dining or in the Outback. - Vegetarian, children and some special dietary meals can be accommodated. - Breakfast meals include a choice of cooked or continental, lunch is a two course meal with various choices, and dinner is a three course meal with a number of dinner options. Cancellation Policy Valid for 01JAN24-31DEC24: FULLY FLEXIBLE: Deposit: - 100% of booking fee is due immediately on booking. Guest Amendments: - Amendments are allowed up to 1 day prior to departure without any fees. Guest Cancellations: - Fully refundable until 1 day before departure. - No refund for bookings cancelled 1 day or less prior to travel or in the event of a no-show. EVERYDAY FARE: Deposit: - 25% of booking fee is due immediately on booking. - This is fully refundable for change of mind within 14 days of booking, if booked more than 60 days prior to departure. Final Payment: - Final payment is due 45 days prior to departure. Guest Amendments: - Amendments are allowed up to 45 days prior to departure with a fee of AUD99.00 per guest. - Within 45 days of travel any amendments will be treated as a cancellation. - A request to reduce the number of guests travelling will incur any applicable cancellation fees. - Guests will be subject to pay any fare difference which may apply when amending travel date. Guest Amendments due to Government Imposed Restrictions: - Amendments are allowed 45 days and under prior to original scheduled departure, amendment to travel date allowed at any time without fees. If new travel date is not selected see 'Force Majeure Cancellations'. Guest Cancellations: - A fee of 25% of total booking cost will be charged for bookings cancelled more than 45 days prior to travel (loss of deposit). - No refund for bookings cancelled 45 days or less prior to travel or in the event of a no-show. Valid for 01JAN24-31DEC25: CANCELLATION DETAILS: Your Rail Journey could be cancelled under one of the following three circumstances: 1. A cancellation arising from your actions, through no fault of JBRE (Journey Beyond Rail Expeditions) - see 'Guest Cancellations' above. 2. A cancellation by JBRE arising from external consequences that make performance of the agreement impossible (such as a Force Majeure event, or the actions of a third party eg. new government regulation) - see 'Force Majeure Cancellations'. 3. Any other cancellation by JBRE - see 'JBRE' Cancellations. Force Majeure Cancellations: For all fare types, in the event of a Force Majeure Cancellation, JBRE will provide you with a credit note of an amount equal to the monies paid to JBRE under the booking. The credit note can be applied to the cost of a future Rail Journey or Holiday Package. Time limits and other criteria and conditions may apply. JBRE Cancellations: For all fare types, in the event of a JBRE Cancellation, JBRE will provide you with the option to receive one of the following: 1. (where available) travel on an alternative non-rail holiday package of similar value, that gets you to the scheduled end destination; 2. an alternate rail service of the same value at a later date; 3. a full refund of monies paid to JBRE under the booking; or 4. a credit note of an amount equal to the monies paid to JBRE under the booking. Refund Payment: Any credit note or refund payable by JBRE under this agreement will be calculated to take into account the monies actually paid under the booking and the amount of the Rail Journey or Holiday Package that has been used. Any refund will be payable to the person who paid for the booking or to the first person named on the booking. If a booking was made through a Travel Agent, any refund will be returned to that Travel Agent for their payment to the guest. Credit Note: A credit note can be applied to the cost of a future Rail Journey or Holiday package. Time limits and other criteria and conditions may apply. Credit notes are not transferrable or redeemable for a refund. Once a credit note has been redeemed, the value of the credit becomes non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Service Disruption: A Service Disruption is a full or partial cancellation of your Rail Journey after your Rail Journey has commenced. In the event of a Service Disruption, JBRE will, subject to its obligations under the Australian Consumer Law, use reasonable endeavours to re-route you to the next destination by any form of transport at JBRE’s cost.
