The Yingana experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity to interact with and learn about the world’s oldest continuous living culture unique to Australia. Tour departs ex Darwin and Jabiru on Monday’s and Fridays; Darwin pick-ups are between 5:00 and 5:30am and meet guests at their nominated hotel set down/reception areas. Ex Darwin, the first stop for a short breakfast/refreshment breaks at the Corroboree roadhouse at approximately 6:45am. Jabiru pick-ups are from 8:30am and once again pick up at accommodation reception areas. From here the journey continue through Kakadu National Park and cross over Cahill’s Crossing into Arnhem Land. Then stop at the Injalak Arts centre for a brief morning tea and meet out Binninj (indigenous) guide. Once at Injalak Hill the guests are required to walk over an undeveloped landscape which is considered a sacred site to the local Binninj for up to 4 hours, so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Guests can expect the opportunity to converse with the binning guides throughout the experience. The best examples of rock art in the world are found in Western Arnhem Land and Injalak Hill is one of the best locations to experience this art and culture. Injalak Hill is well known the world over as one of the most spiritual places for aboriginal people in this part of Australia. Then lunch is at the top of the hill consisting of fresh salads which the guests can tailor to their liking. Lunch is held overlooking the remote community of Gunbalanya. After lunch guests will descend the hill for the return journey via the arts centre where guests may purchase art works. All the experiences are fully guided by a local aboriginal guide who is knowledgeable of the culture rock art to each area..~~~~
