A Southern Secrets vehicle will collect you from your Melbourne accommodation for you Melbourne Marvelous City Tour. Your tour visits a selection of Melbourne icons. Expect grand and challenging architecture, alleyways of street art and big river views. A Melbourne landmark and cultural center, the State Library is housed in a magnificent nineteenth-century building in the heart of the city. The La Trobe Reading Room, with its majestic domed ceiling, is magnificent. There are free and permanent exhibitions to enjoy, including a display of Ned Kelly’s armor. Fed Square is Melbourne’s meeting place. You can’t miss it! Since opening in 2002, Fed Square has become one of the most visited attractions in Melbourne. The open space is paved with 476,000 individually laid sandstone cobblestones; and the buildings are clad in glass and zinc triangles, that reflect the Melbourne sky. Fed Square is home to the National Gallery of Victoria’s Australian collection (Ian Potter Centre), Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) and the Koorie Heritage Trust. Eureka Tower is hard to miss. Rising almost 300 metres and 88 storeys above the city, Eureka Tower is one of the world’s tallest residential buildings. Head up to the 88th floor for 360-degree views. Explore Australia’s favorite market. Opened in 1878, the Queen Victoria Market has been the heart and soul of Melbourne produce shopping for more than a century. Spread over two city blocks, there are more than 600 stalls with everything from Australian fruit and vegetables, local and imported gourmet foods to clothing and souvenirs. Join the locals who avoid the weekend crowds and shop during the week. ‘Doing the laneways’ is a must-do when in Melbourne. From alfresco dining, quaint boutiques and cosy cafés in Centre Place Lane, to the world-class street art in Hosier Lane, there are more than 40 laneways and arcades to explore in the city. Tour concludes at approximately 4.00pm, at which time hotel drop offs will commence.~~~~
