Board your Moonraker Dolphin Swim vessel at Sorrento Pier, Esplanade Road, to commence a 3 hour Dolphin and Seal swim cruise. The cruises commence with a welcome tea or coffee, after which continue to travel out into the sheltered shallows of Port Phillip Bay to embark on an exciting once in a lifetime adventure. Arriving at Chinaman's Hat where you can put your newfound skills into action, this is a local spot where the ever-curious Australian Fur Seals are waiting to share their underwater world with you. Chinaman’s Hat is a man made structure built just for the Seals! Offering shallow water snorkeling and beautiful white sand seabed, this area has a maximum depth of 4metres. Once the dolphins are located get into ready into groups of 10 people and prepare to enter the water, floating on the waters surface your guides will try to entice the dolphins to spend time with the group, where they swim beneath you and often circle swimmers looking at you and showing off their amazing abilities. Every swim is unique and the time spent with the dolphins varies. It must be appreciated that they are completely wild and the interactions are on the animals’ terms. The cruises also include a snorkel with the Sea Dragons. These prehistoric looking sea horses are unique to the area and closely related to the famous leafy sea dragons these spectacular animals are Victoria’s Marine emblem. Meet the tour guides at Sorrento Pier, collect your equipment and then board the luxury ‘Moonraker.’ Where you can meet your captain and check in onboard. cruise into the sheltered shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay. Once onboard you can relax on the upper sundeck, inside lounge area or taking in the salt air on the front of the boat in a beanbag lounge. As you cruise out into the Bay your snorkel guides will walk you through all the activities, help familiarize you with the boat and all the features and areas to explore and then gear up and get ready to slid into the water. Visit the Australian Fur Seals and search the coastal locations for the resident dolphins. You will love the Australian fur seals and these friendly, fun and inquisitive Seals are just as special as the dolphins. The clear shallow waters surrounding the boat are filled with seals of all ages and sizes, the seal structures often attract small sea stars, giant smooth rays which glide beneath on the seafloor and sometimes spider crabs at one of the structures. You will come face to face with these inquisitive animals and this experience is something that you will remember for life. Once back onboard you will be served with lunch, hot drinks and snacks ensuring you’re energised and ready for the next snorkel. Once the dolphins are located observe their behaviour and location before approaching the pod. In small groups of 10, we slide quietly into the water, floating on the surface. Wait, watch and listen for the dolphin's squeaks and whistles to get louder, a sign that they will join and swim beneath the group. Each and every encounter is totally unique. Being wild and free, Each encounter is entirely based on what the dolphins are doing when located, sometimes they will swim around for endless minuets and other times they will glide past for a look and continue swimming, Spend as much time with them as possible both swimming and sightseeing but need to ensure we you are not changing their behaviour or lifestyle. The dolphins are resident to Port Phillip Bay however they are completely wild and aren’t always located on every cruise.
