A Wait-a-While Rainforest Tours vehicle will pick you up from your hotel to commence a Full Day/Night Rainforest Tour. Visit a number of locations across the Atherton Tablelands, rich in bio-diversity, featuring lush tropical rainforests and volcanic crater lakes such as Lake Eacham, and see native wildlife in their natural environment. Best suited to the Wildlife enthusiasts. Some highlights include visiting the giant 500 year old Cathedral Fig Tree, enjoying interpretive rainforest walking trails and looking out for the Musky Rat Kangaroo, Platypus spotting at dusk at your own private viewing area, Nocturnal animal spotlighting at The Curtain Fig Tree, and other locations. You will also look for Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos, Lemuroid Possums, and Green Ringtail Possums. You will enjoy afternoon tea at Lake Barrine and dinner at a country restaurant, as well as enjoying tea and coffee while returning home with an increased appreciation of the beauty and complexity of rainforest life, and the importance of preserving it. Visit the scenic Atherton Tablelands, rich in biodiversity, an area that features a range of habitats including lush tropical rainforest and volcanic crater lakes. Enjoy an Afternoon Tea at the world renowned, Lake Barrine. During our adventure by day, we may see the Musky Rat Kangaroo, Boyds Forest Dragon, a selection of rainforest birds, butterflies and Flying Foxes. At dusk we venture to the viewing area by the river to search for the Platypus, one of the most unique mammals on earth. After dinner at a local country restaurant, our nighttime spotlighting adventure begins. As we walk under the night stars, and into the World Heritage Rainforest, we may be lucky enough to spot a Lumholtzs Tree Kangaroo, Northern Leaf Tailed Gecko, Ringtail Possums, gliders, frogs, owls and more (most are endemic to the region). Every night is full of discoveries. Later, on the trip home, we can reflect on what we have seen, and return with an increased appreciation of Australian Wildlife and the World Heritage Rainforests of North Queensland.~~~~ |
