Step aboard Spirit of the Wild at the Gordon River Cruises terminal on the Esplanade, Strahan to commence a full day cruise. Travel to Hells Gates, the entrance to Macquarie Harbour before cruising alongside salmon and ocean trout farms to observe feeding time. Then cruise the Gordon River amidst some of the largest tracts of World Heritage wilderness on earth, cruising slowly under electric motors, to view the mirrored reflections. You then stop at Heritage Landing for a comfortable 30 minute rainforest walk on the boardwalk, where your guide will explain the unique flora and fauna in the area. Once back on board, enjoy lunch while cruising to Sarah Island. Disembark for a guided tour and walk among the ruins to learn about convict history. Head back to Strahan where your cruise concludes at approximately 02:30pm.~~~~

Visit Hells Gates at the mouth of Macquarie Harbour, discover the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area as everyone will explore the rainforest at Heritage Landing and then Sarah Island the once dreaded penal colony. Enjoy an unforgettable and immersive experience in this incredible environment with dedicated on-board guides. The cruise will conclude back in Strahan at approximately 2: 30pm-3: 00pm. The Gordon River Cruise will first take all guests through the notorious Hells Gates, where the harbour and the Southern Ocean meet. From there, everyone will make way across Macquarie Harbour to the fish farms where you’ll learn the fascinating story of salmon and trout farming on the west coast of Tasmania (and have a taste of the delicious produce). From the fish farms everyone will make their way to the beautiful Gordon River. While quietly cruising the Gordon River with Spirit of the Wild's electric motors everyone will take in the breathtaking scenery and calm of our pristine World Heritage-listed wilderness. Stopping at Heritage Landing, take a walk through the temperate rainforest, learning of the local flora and fauna while wandering elevated boardwalks that thread the way between the magnificent rainforest species. As well as sassafras and myrtle, stand in awe next to the pride of the forest, an ancient Huon pine. To finish, explore the ruins of Sarah Island – a once dreaded penal colony – before returning to Strahan where you can continue your Tasmanian adventure.
