Step aboard the Spirit of the Wild at the Gordon River Cruise terminal on the Esplanade, Strahan to commence a full-day cruise. Visit Hells Gates at the mouth of Macquarie Harbour, discover the UNESCO Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area as everyone will get to explore the rainforest at Heritage Landing and then Sarah Island the once dreaded penal colony. The Gordon River Cruise will first take everyone through the notorious Hells Gates, where the harbour and the Southern Ocean meet. Stopping at Heritage Landing, take a walk through the temperate rainforest, learning of the local flora and fauna while wandering elevated boardwalks that thread the way between the magnificent rainforest species. As well as sassafras and myrtle, stand in awe next to the pride of the forest, an ancient Huon pine. To finish, explore the ruins of Sarah Island – a once dreaded penal colony – before returning to Strahan where all guests can continue the Tasmanian adventure.
